Check Out Blood of Gold (Seeker Series)

Blood of Gold (Seeker Series) Review

I can't believe I got this book for a dollar. If you are one of the many millions who loved "Twilight" and that whole YA romance world, you will love this book. If you didn't like Twilight, I would say you might not like this one. However, this is NOT a "Twilight Rip-off". It is quite a bit different. The story proceeds down different paths with a different answer that, unlike Twilight, is not entirely obvious early-on. Haley is not an "ass-kicker" and this is no Buffy TV show, nor is it "Magic Bites". It's a high school girl paranormal romance, with extremely good writing (for once). I would say that if you took Twilight, rewrote it without 50 extra characters that are interchangeable, and tried to make some things more sensible, it would look like this book. There is a lot more conflict in this book than in Twilight too, every kid she meets in school is out for something, they aren't all giving her little kisses and pats on the first day. That makes the book feel a lot different than some others I've read in this genre as well.

I liked the heroine's worries, she has a dead mother and is never quite sure until the end how her mom actually died. Her father is over-protective but hopelessly unable to protect her from the things she runs into. She worries about things and isn't brash and overconfident, which is how I felt in high school. She reacts to running into supernatural beings with realistic shock, but her infatuation with the hero causes her to overcome her normal shyness and try to get him.

A very nice intro for the author and a fantastic bargain for a buck! (At least, that's what I paid for it).

Blood of Gold (Seeker Series) Overview

Her young man stepped out of nowhere onto a mountaintop...

Her high school counselor came from Hell. Literally...

Haley learns she has a unique gift. She normally lives her life escaping notice, but now two gorgeous strangers are interested in her. Very interested. Seth is the best-looking young man she (or anyone else) has ever met. Every girl in school is after him and the competition turns strangely vicious. She soon realizes that he is not fully bound to this world. Although they both feel the mutual attraction, there’s something holding him back... The second stranger is equally attractive, but more frightening. When she is with him, she somehow loses her self-control. To say more would give away too much, but Las Vegas will never be the same...

Blood of Gold is the first novel of the Seeker Series, stories of paranormal romance and suspense by B. V. Larson, Writers of the Future award winner. The book is 90,000 words long, 380 pages in print form...

Great YA Book... - Sally S. Olson - SC
And I really enjoyed it too - though I'm not a young adult. This erudite writer has crafted a book where a spunky teenaged heroine and an ageless hero explore both the reality of school - and the fantasy of immortality. Where they labor under the real world of scientific law - and the freedom of Larson's vivid imagination. Where they live in the shelter of protective society - and in the abode of evil.

Enjoy the romance. But don't get too comfortable...

There is something seriously wrong with this girl! - Army Wife -
This book is mostly her complaining. She has problems. Why would you follow someone you barely even know to the desert?!?! This chick is crazy. If whining was a sport, she would win a gold medal. She fights over him with other girls, she tells him she loves him, and she stalks him. Lets face it, she basically only knows his name, age, and height. She needs help and a growth spurt. Half of this book is only complaining. Someone needs to put her in a box and ship her to a third world country. I wanna hear her complain then. This book was a waste of a dollar. I should have just gone to the Dollar Store or something.

Is it wrong to want the main girl to come to harm?! - Eji1219 -
I really did not like this book, the main character was unrelated-able and whiny in my opinion, whining about how short she is and how tall the boy she likes is, which give me a break, she is exactly as tall as my mom is, and my dad was 6'3" so give me a break! When Seth finally shows interest in her, she chases after him in the desert because he may have another girl, and she wants to catch him with her. That action to me was irrational and stalker like, it made me draw back away from her rather then making me like her more.

She is so down on herself that I had a hard time reading this book, and was bored until almost the end, the only reason I was not as bored then was because too many things were going on and she had less internal dialog than in the beginning of the book. Her best friend and her fighting over a guy whom neither one of them have dated is just plain dumb, it was a pointless fight, and I do not think that either of the girls should have ended up with him, which just goes to show that neither one of them were very good friends or very good people for that matter.

It disgusted me that she "fell" in love with the main boy just because he looked the way he did, not only did she know nothing about him, but there were also MANY weird things going on that should have made her step back and demand information but instead she just tells him she loves him. It was basically a book about being attracted to someone based on how they look and having nothing to do with who they are as a person.

And the fact that she is supposed to be a "bookish type" and she cannot figure out what he is until the main bad guy tell he makes me question what kind of books she reads, because I think any 4th grader with a clue could have figured it out before she was TOLD, of course she was given another very obvious clue that to me was just plain telling her, but I guess some would count it as figuring it out.

I think that there are many things that should be worked out, and were not, but frankly I hate this book so much if there are more I will not be reading them to figure out if they do get work out. The best part of this book is when she gets stabbed through both hands, I really would not have cared if she had got killed, I would have felt for her dad if she died but would not have cared for the loss of her. Whiny, shallow girl that she is, even the fact that she was short was making me mad, since it was brought up at any available time that the main character thought anything.

The plot could have gone places, the fact that the main character is what he is makes the book slightly less awful then it was, at the end of the book. I would say if it's under a dollar you can buy it and read it, but if it cost more than that DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK!!!!
