Lament: The Faerie Queen's Deception Review

Scary faeries, an EVIL queen, a would-die-for-you best friend/boyfriend-in-waiting, a family secret that Dierdre never could have guessed, and a 1000+ year old heart!-throb!-mystery-guy that seems infatuated with the girl no one knows exists. This was more of a horror story than I'd expected. A terrifying tale with the old school style faeries that think humans are dumb animals and they revel in torturing us for it. I LOVE THIS BOOK!
I'm savoring the perpetuation of the old medieval Irish faerie tales; the one's my Grandma used to tell me so I wouldn't wander off into the woods. I grew up envisioning faeries as terrifyingly heartless and beautifully mischievous and tortuous, Maggie rekindling that fear (thanks) along with a pulchritudinous "first-love" between Dierdre and Luke
This is unabashedly my new favorite faerie tale!!!

delicious fun reading - BeautifulDisaster - Kansas City
I think Maggie Stiefvater could write out a grocery list and I would love it. :) I love her descriptions, and her characterization is absolutely superb.

Fantastic!!!!!!!!!! - Christi - Arkansas USA
I really don't know why it took me so long to read this book. It was fantastic! Not really what I expected but in a good way. It keeps you on your toes. You never know what's going to happen from one minute to the next. It helps that it's beautifully written.

Not all I expected it to be. - A. Paxman -
Lament is the story of Deidre, who suddenly discovers her ability of telekinesis. Once discovering her power, her eyes are opened to the magical world of faeries. And they all want her dead, except one. I found this book was fairly entertaining, but I wouldn't say I absolutely loved it, nor do I feel any strong desire to continue the series. I felt it was a bit predictable, without very many surprises, and of course there was foul language which was completely unnecessary.
